ローレンス・アロイス・フーターによるフォトワークショップ「ひろしまを撮る、イメージを広げる」を2月22日（日）に開催いたします。
ローレンスは、オーストリアのチロル地方にある山岳観光都市キッツビューエルに生まれ育ち、ドイツのハノーファーで学んだ写真家です。昨年広島に交換留学しており、現在再び広島に短期滞在しています。
被爆都市としての歴史を持つ広島でのさまざまな経験を通じて、地元のキッツビューエルでも同様に再生産される壮大な山やスキーリゾートのような表象への気づきを新たにしました。そこで、そうした観光のまなざしをふまえたうえで、主体的にイメージを加え、広げるための手段として写真を捉え直すプロジェクトに取り組むようになりました。
今回、改めて広島を訪れたローレンスとともに、内外の視線の交錯を共有し、広島のイメージを広げる機会を設定します。ローレンスの卒業研究の一部をベースにイメージについての理解を共有したあと、参加者は周囲の撮影に出かけ、写真を選択しディスカッションするまでの一連のプロセスを体験します。
そうして、これまで定着してきた広島の視覚的イメージについて、ローレンスと参加者それぞれの視点と写真でアプローチし、より多角的な解釈の余地をつくりだすことを目指します。
なお、本ワークショップは英語をベースに開催し、必要に応じ日本語のサポートを行います。写真撮影や発表の経験は問いません。皆さまのご参加をお待ちしております。

We will hold the photo workshop Widening the Photographic Representations of Hiroshima by Lorenz Alois Huter on Sunday, February 22nd.
Lorenz is a photographer born and raised in Kitzbühel, a mountain resort town in the Tyrol region of Austria, and studied in Hannover, Germany. Having previously been an exchange student in Hiroshima last year, he is currently visiting the city again for a short-term stay.
Through his various experiences in Hiroshima, a city with a history as an atomic-bombed site, Lorenz gained new insights into the representations of grand mountains and ski resorts that are similarly reproduced in his hometown of Kitzbühel. This led him to start a project that reinterprets photography as a means to subjectively add to and expand images, while taking into account such touristic gazes.
On this occasion, joined by Lorenz on his return to Hiroshima, we are creating an opportunity to share the intersection of internal and external perspectives and to expand the image of Hiroshima. After sharing an understanding of images based on part of Lorenz’s graduate research, participants will experience a series of processes from going out to photograph the surroundings to selecting photos and engaging in discussion.
Through this process, we aim to approach the established visual images of Hiroshima from the perspectives and photographs of both Lorenz and the participants, creating space for more multifaceted interpretations.
Please note that this workshop will be conducted primarily in English, with Japanese support provided as needed. No prior experience in photography or presentation is required. We look forward to your participation.
